King's Day, Amsterdam

April 27th is the birthday of the Dutch King. It is a huge national holiday and most towns in Holland have celebrations of one kind or another. Amsterdam has the largest party with many thousands of people on the streets and touring the canals in boats fitted out with discos and bars ! A tradition is that anyone can set up a street stall on the day. The city is covered in orange, the colour of the Dutch royal house.
